The Easiest Route to Meini Hirion – the Druid’s Circle, Penmaenmawr
The route is really easy to follow and because you park at 800ft above sea level then there’s not too much height to gain as the highest point on the walk is 1200ft.

I’ve created a video which shows you step by step how to get to the stone circles. There are actually 3 stone circles but the one pictured here is the most impressive.
If you are planning some walking days in Eryri in North Wales then I recommend you take a quick detour. This amazing stone circle is just 10 minutes drive from the A55, the express road along the North Wales Coast. This route goes up past Foel Lus and onto the 6000 year old stone circles behind Penmaenmawr.
How long does it take to walk to the Druids Circle at Penmaenmawr?
It takes around an hour from the small car park for the Jubilee Path at Foel Lus. If your just going there and back leave yourself a few hours for the complete walk. There are other options for a circular walk too if you want to extend it.
Where to Park for the Penmaenmawr Druids Circle Walk

Park at the top of Mountain Lane when you see two large stone pillars.

The above route is the quickest and easiest way to get to the stone circle at Penmaenmawr but there are lots of options for longer circular walks.

In the above loop you get to walk around the headland path of Foel Lus. You can access the top of Foel Lus, there are two small footpaths that strike off from the big circular path that contours around this small peak.

Cefn Coch Stone Circle from Llanfairfechan
You can also park in Llanfairfechan and walk up this way – here’s the route.

This route takes around 3 hours or longer if you decide to take a detour to visit the fascinating old quarry works. The quarry is still active but there are some interesting old structures in the older part – be careful there are some big drops that way.
The path to the stones is fairly straight forward, you can choose whether to walk along the ridgeline over Cors y Carneddau or shelter from the wind a little lower down.
There are multiple little paths from Llanfairfechan that all lead to the same point. I found a road side parking space in a small housing estate called Gorwel.
