Penycloddiau Walk
Penycloddia Hill Fort is a peak in the beautiful Clwydian Range in North Wales. From the summit, you can enjoy stunning views of Snowdonia National Park, the Vale of Clwyd and even the Isle of Man on a clear day!

Penycluddiau Paths and Routes
There are two main routes depending on which side of the Penycloddiau Hill Fort you park. The map above shows the two car parks. Both routes are fairly clear once you get started on the right path.
If you time it right (around July/August) you will experience this gorgeous purple heather in full bloom, it’s also home to wild moorland grouse. However the best part is perhaps the amazing feeling when you realise you’re walking on a Bronze Age Hill Fort and Burial Mound – there were humans exploring and living here around 4000 years ago!
Where do you park to walk up to Penycloddiau Hill Fort?

Parking to go up Penycloddiau is very straightforward. For the most direct route up to the summit of Penycloddiau you park at the end of a very bumpy farm track. It feels a little like it may never end, but have faith, there are at least 10 spaces in the parking area at the end of the track and once you know this car park you’ll have lots of great walks to start from.
You can also park here to walk up Moel Y Parc which is on your right as you are driving and behind you as you park up.

The walk up to the peak of Penycloddiau Hill Fort from is very straightforward as you can see from the image above. The walk is not strenuous so it’s a perfect short walk and you can also include this peak in a number of routes making it as long or short as you wish by looking at all the available circular routes.
